Nicholas Isaiah King Rose

Nicholas Isaiah King Rose, of West Palm Beach, FL, is a dynamic presence in the world of performing arts, seamlessly weaving together his talents as a professional ballet dancer, teacher, choreographer, DJ, and classically trained cellist. Rose's roots trace back to the Bahamas.

His professional training began on full scholarship at both The HARID Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida and The Colburn Dance Academy in Los Angeles, founded by LA Dance Project Artistic Director, Benjamin Millepied. The program was led by former NYCB principal ballerina and author Jenifer Ringer.  Rose worked closely with former NYCB Principal and former AGMA Executive James Fayette, and former NYCB Soloist and current Balanchine repetiteur, Zippora Karz. During this time, he performed principal roles in George Balanchine's "Who Cares?" and "Agon," leaving an indelible mark on the stage, at age 18.

Rose's dance journey continued with the prestigious Dance Theatre of Harlem, where he served as a Company Dancer. Urged by Dance Theatre of Harlem's founder Arthur Mitchell, Rose joined the company, gracing the stage in works such as Nacho Duato's "Coming Together," Ulysses Dove's "Dancing on the Front Porch of Heaven," Robert Garland's "Return," and Balanchine's "Valse Fantaisie," among others. Rose toured with Dance Theatre of Harlem to 36 U.S. cities and 3 European countries, performing in notable theaters such as the Lithuania National Opera House and the Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera. Additionally, he was one of four selected to perform two new works by current DTH director Robert Garland to music by Aretha Franklin for Aretha Franklin herself at her 2019 Christmas party.

In 2018, Rose was recruited by the National Ballet of Canada where he later joined the company ranks. Rose performed featured roles in ballet such as John Neumeier's "Anna Karenina," William Forsythe's "The Second Detail," Balanchine's "Chaconne", and Alexei Ratmansky's "Piano Concerto #1" during his tenure with the company. Rose choreographed, "Home" danced by NBC principal, Tina Pereira for the National Ballet of Canada's Choreographic Workshop in 2019.

Beyond the stage, Rose is a dedicated teacher, sharing his expertise globally. As a freelance instructor, he has conducted classes at institutions such as the Dance Center of Kenya and Marameo Berlin to freelancing as an educator in places such as  Berlin, Amsterdam, London,  Virginia, and Pittsburgh. His commitment to education extends to choreography, contributing to summer intensives and outreach programs. 

Nicholas is thrilled to contribute to Confluence Ballet Company as a dancer and choreographer for "A Villain Redeemed".
